Menolly (Mel) is passionate about building client confidence in their hearing abilities. “What gives me the most satisfaction is seeing a client from their first hearing assessment to a successful outcome where they fully participate in activities that are important to them because they can now communicate.”
Prior to becoming an audiologist, Mel worked as a registered nurse for 8 years starting at Port Augusta Hospital and finishing her last four years at the Flinders Medical Centre emergency department.
After gaining a Masters in Audiology from Flinders University in 2011, she began her audiology career with a private hearing aid company before joining Can:Do Hearing in 2015.
Mel clinical interests are in tinnitus management and researching the links between hearing and cognition in older adults.
When not at work, Mel enjoys exploring Belair National Park with her daughter, trail running, reading and crochet. Here’s an added fun fact about Mel: “Never ask me to sing, by the way! I’ve been requested not to sing, especially in the car, by my siblings! I am a terrible singer.”
Mel continues to increase her knowledge in tinnitus management and the role mindfulness can play in assisting people to effectively manage their tinnitus.
