Joel immensely enjoys meeting and talking with new people and being an audiologist has helped him do this quite effectively and well. “Everyone has a story, which is unique to their communication needs.”
Following a career as a Podiatrist for seven years, he joined Can:Do Hearing in 2008, after graduating from Flinders University with a Masters in Audiology.
In June 2015, Joel was appointed as Can:Do Hearing’s Manager of Audiology and is a certified member of Audiology Australia (one of the primary requirements for service provision under a range of government programs including Medicare and the Office of Hearing Services programs).
His clinical interests include aural rehabilitation, hearing aids and tinnitus management. He particularly enjoys the benefits and challenges of working with all hearing aid manufacturers, which he believes gives the team the best chance to find the right product or solution to fit a client’s specific listening needs.
Outside of work, Joel is a successful sailor and a six time National Champion. He came in 2nd at the 2012 World Sailing Championships.
Joel is working to develop the Tinnitus SA website, which seeks to raise community awareness of tinnitus and provide comprehensive and impartial information, support and therapy options for people with tinnitus.
