Diabetes and Hearing Loss

Diabetes and hearing loss are two of Australia’s most common troubling health conditions.
Did you know that research suggests people which diabetes is twice as likely to develop or have an undiagnosed hearing loss? High blood glucose levels generally associated with diabetes impact the small blood vessels in the inner ear, similar to the way in which diabetes can damage the eyes and kidneys. This damage is what can eventually lead to hearing loss.

What can you do?
Be proactive and lead a healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes.
Already living with diabetes?
Don’t despair, there is help available. Have a hearing test, even if you don’t feel you have significant hearing problems by having regular hearing checks your audiologist can see the small changes in your hearing over time.
